Emma Kipling Hess Ingersoll (1878 — 1941) The home farm provided Emma Ingersoll with a vast and ever-changing selection of scenes to capture in her scarce and valuable spare time. Views of the house, barns and farmyard, the Chester River and Jarrett Creek, the fields, the long and magical driveway, the orchards and the gardens are all well represented in her portfolio. These pastoral scenes of quiet intimacy capture the essence of the farm in oil and watercolor, and give us a sense of what Emma felt about the land and water that surrounded her adopted home. |
